Parliamentary Panels to Visit J&K for Ground Review of Security Development Jammu, April 20: Several Parliamentary Standing Committees (PSCs), including the panel on Home Affairs, are set to visit Jammu and Kashmir next month to assess the overall security and developmental scenario in the Union Territory. According to official sources, the visiting committees will hold interactions with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, senior civil and police officials, as well as various stakeholders. The objective is to take stock of the ground situation and submit detailed findings to Parliament. The visit of the Home Affairs Committee, chaired by BJP MP Radha Mohan Das Aggarwal, is being viewed as particularly significant. The panel is expected to review critical security aspects, including counter-terror operations, cross-border infiltration, and the prevailing law and order situation. Other committees will focus on evaluating the progress of developmental initiatives, implementation of centrally sponsored schemes, and issues concerning Panchayati Raj institutions. As per the tentative itinerary, the Home Affairs panel will commence its tour from Katra on May 10, followed by visits to Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Sonmarg, where on-ground assessments and official interactions will be conducted. The delegation is also scheduled to visit Kargil to review border security and engage with Army representatives. Meanwhile, the Rajya Sabha Secretariat has reiterated guidelines for members undertaking official tours, emphasizing that no accompanying persons are permitted except in special cases with prior approval.
