- Under the public reach initiative, Department of Fisheries, Kupwara in collaboration with 56RR, Machil, conducted one day awareness camp on trout fish culture - possibilities and challenges. The program was attended by Lt. Col. Saini, Assistant Director Fisheries Kupwara, Dr. Salman, PRI Members and other youth. Lt. Col Saini welcomed the participants and the speakers and thrusted upon the need for establishing fisheries in Machil sector. Dr. Salman Chalkoo, while assuring support to the localities of Machil under centrally sponsored schemes, deliberated the possibilities of trout culture in the region, and emphasized on the desire of DDC, Kupwara, Smt. Ayushi Sudan, who is vehemently interested to get the youth of the underprivileged areas engaged in fisheries sector. The program was attended by 50 participants, who appreciated the initiative of the Department. On the spot 05 applications were received for various fish cultures. The program ended with a vote of thanks to Dr. Salman Chalkoo By Lt. Col. Saini, which was culminated bya field visit to various sites for the establishment of trout units.1
