- Chinar Branch Falls on Cow Shed in Hanjiwera Payeen, Locals Seek Immediate Action//// Pattan: A large branch of a Chinar tree fell on a cow shed at Rather Mohalla in Hanjiwera Payeen, north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, on Sunday following strong winds, causing considerable damage to the structure. According to local residents, the Chinar tree had already been identified as a potential safety hazard. They said a formal request had been submitted to the District Administration, seeking either the removal of the tree or necessary pruning of its branches. However, residents alleged that no effective action had been taken so far. Locals further said that the Sub-Divisional Administration, Pattan, had also inspected the site and reportedly directed that the tree be removed due to the risk it posed. Despite the inspection, the tree has neither been removed nor properly pruned. Residents said today's incident has once again highlighted the danger posed by the tree and warned that any further delay could lead to serious property damage or even loss of life. They urged the District Administration Baramulla and the Sub-Divisional Administration Pattan to take immediate action and remove or properly prune the hazardous Chinar tree, in accordance with the applicable rules, to prevent any untoward incident in the future.1
