#Manipur | Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, today announced the allocation of ₹777.61 crore for the widening and improvement of the Shangshak-Tengnoupal Road section of National Highway-102A in Manipur The project, sanctioned under the Annual Plan 2024-25, aims to upgrade the existing single-lane road to a two-lane configuration with a hard shoulder The 48-kilometer stretch, starting at Khonglo and ending at Kasom-Khullen, will serve as a crucial link between the Ukhrul and Kamjong districts of Manipur According to Gadkari, the upgraded road will significantly improve connectivity between the two districts, enhancing road capacity and service quality, and lowering vehicle operating costs for users The project is expected to catalyze tourism growth and contribute to the socio-economic progress of the region However, the Centre's earlier promise to complete the construction of National Highway-202, the Imphal-Ukhrul road, by May 2024, remains unfulfilled, with the project significantly lagging behind schedule
