With few days left for the New Year Eve celebrations in the city, the Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner Shanka Brata Bagchi announced strict measures with stringent drunk driving checks, traffic restrictions and heightened security across the city The police said extensive checks for drunk driving and rash and negligent driving will be conducted on Dec 31 across the city starting from 8 pm and will continue till 5 am on Jan 1 The police would seize the vehicles if the motorist was involved in tipsy driving or rash and negligent driving and produce the offenders before the court No vehicles were allowed between The Park Hotel junction and NTR statue stretch on RK Beach road from 8 pm on Dec 31 to 5 am on Jan 1 Similarly, the middle roads of BRTS between Hanumanthuwaka to Adavivaram, Goshala Junction to Vepagunta Junction Pendurthi Junction to NAD Junction and Convent Junction will be closed from 8 pm on Dec 31 to 5 am on Jan 1, the emergency vehicles will ply on the service roads of the BRTC The BRTC stretch between Maddilapalem and Rama Talkies and the RTC underpass will be closed between 10 pm on Dec 31 to 5 am on Jan 1 The Telugu Thalli flyover will be closed on Dec 31 The city police chief said police will initiate strict action against those who violate the rules during the celebrations No obscenity, drugs, or loud music allowed during the New Year celebrations, the police added Left side beach pic credits : prudhvichowdary
