MANIPUR POLICE RESCUE MENTALLY UNSTABLE WOMAN IN JIRIBAM DISTRICT
Manipur Police successfully rescued a 37-year-old woman from the Hmar tribal community who was found wandering in Jiribam district on Wednesday
The woman, identified as Lalpiengjo Hmar, a resident of Moljol Village in Jiribam District, was discovered in Nungchappi village under the jurisdiction of the Jiribam Police Station, which borders Assam.The local residents alerted the Jiribam District Police about her presence around noon, and she was quickly located and escorted to safety by the authorities
Upon preliminary questioning, it was determined that the woman was mentally unstable
After providing the necessary support, the police safely handed her over to her family members.The Hmar tribals, primarily based in the southern parts of Manipur, have been involved in the ongoing ethnic violence in the state
Many of them are aligned with the Kuki-Zo community, which has been advocating for a separate administration to be carved out from Manipur amid the ongoing strife
