The District Administration Baramulla today organized a mega Padhyatra as part of its anti-drug awareness campaign, drawing participation from officials, students, and members of the public. The rally started from Dak Bungalow Baramulla and concluded at Degree College Baramulla, aiming to spread awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse. Commissioner/Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Sarmad Hafeez (IAS), who is also the Mentor for District Baramulla, led the Padhyatra. He was accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Additional Deputy Commissioners of Baramulla and Sopore, SSP Baramulla, SSP Sopore, SDM Tangmarg, and other officers. Speaking to the media, Sarmad Hafeez said that a 100-day anti-drug campaign, flagged off by the Lieutenant Governor from Jammu, is being implemented to tackle the issue. He noted that some elements are trying to mislead the youth, and the administration is focusing on awareness to counter this threat. He added that all departments are working together to address the problem and that strict enforcement drives will also be launched to curb drug abuse. The initiative reflects the administration’s continued efforts to build a safer and drug-free society.
