- Srinagar, May 3: In a major push against drug abuse, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday led a large-scale padyatra in Srinagar, drawing participation from thousands of people, including students, officials, and local residents. The march commenced from the Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) and culminated at the historic Lal Chowk, symbolizing a united stand against the growing menace of narcotics in the region. Prior to the rally, a high-level gathering was held at TRC, attended by prominent figures including J&K Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather, Cabinet Minister Javed Ahmad Dar, Waqf Board Chairperson Darakhshan Andrabi, and Apni Party President Syed Altaf Bukhari. Addressing the participants, LG Sinha described the fight against drugs as a “silent battle” that demands collective responsibility. He reaffirmed the administration’s determination to break the drug supply chain and appealed to citizens, especially the youth, to actively support efforts aimed at creating a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir.1
