- New to Doberman Rescue Minnesota. Not available for adoption until all vetting is completed and after our foster home learns more about this great Doberman, we are, however, accepting applications. Stay tuned for more information! Zoltan is a 10 month old boy, who is going to be getting neutered soon. As for now we are still learning about him and this is what we can say about this sweet, beautiful and joyous boy thus far. Food- eats 2x a day about 2 cups each time. I have been giving him 1/4 to 1/2 cup white rice with each meal to help bind him up. He is currently on sensitive stomach Science Diet and also a daily probiotic powder that goes on his food in the morning. He sits and waits great to be told 'okay' to eat. He uses a slow feeder. Currently not giving him any treats, but he's happy to eat his dog food as a treat. , Currently he wakes up around 4-5am for a poop (this has gotten later over time, right away it was 2am). I would say now he's pooping about 3 times day. He will cry in his kennel to go outside, he's currently in the bedroom with us at night so I know when to let him out. To go outside to go potty he'll paw at the door during the day. The longest he has been left alone in the kennel was 4 hours and no blankets/pads can be in there as he's still a puppy and will chew them up. He did try to eat the tags off one night, but he does great with corrections and being redirected with toys and a firm no Has diarrhea 2-3 times per day, but currently BM's are improving with diet and routine. There have been two semi-firm BM's in the last two days! Zoltan had intussusception- obstruction surgery and will have precautions with this long term. He also prefers free and clear soaps and puppy shampoos as his beautiful self is a bit sensitive and will break out in hives if he lays on a blanket that was washed with a fragrance detergent. He has great hygiene and doesn't mind nail trims, teeth brushing or being brushed in general. He will play fetch for 30 min at a time with his ball. He loves the ball. He likes hard toys and things he can 'chew' on that are rubber like. He likes to chew alone and enjoys a Kong stuffed with dog food. He plays well with the resident Doberman, and she has taught him boundaries. He is always friendly towards kids on walks and when in stores. No prey drive that I have experienced. He does well with the 14 year old resident cat and redirects well if he does want to play with the cat. Seeing small dogs on walks doesn't phase him. Wakes up around 5 am for bathroom break, eat breakfast around 6:30, half mile walk around a park around 9. Will play a little bit of fetch or chew on toys during the day. Lunch time he's let out to poo/potty. around 2 pm we go for another half mile walk. Around 4/5 is when the puppy energy comes out so we play ball for about 30 min and Zoltan and the other dog will run around the fenced in back yard. 6pm is dinner and around 7 is when the second round of puppy play comes out, he gets restless and wants to chase/play alot for about an hour. We typically play in the basement during this time and he'll play fetch up and down the hallway. He's young, so this is to be expected. Then around 9pm he's let out for the last time of the night and settles down well when he knows it's bedtime I(foster) work from home, so most the day he's free roaming and sleeping. When I leave I kennel him and he will bark for a long while. The longest he's been in there alone was 4 hours, when I got home he was laying down and not barking when I got in the house. He does like his crate. He sleeps in there, I have fed him there and it's always a positive experience when he goes in and comes out. At night he sleeps in the crate in the bedroom with us, and will sleep most the night. He does have blankets and a pad at night as I know I would wake up if I heard him chewing. He does great w/ Car rides! Will lay down or stick his head out the window. He's excited to get in the car always. Zoltan knows Sit, paw (shake), down, leave it, out, go to your spot (his bed), kennel, heal, guard, through (to go through your legs), go potty, and he gets excited when you say "Want to go for a walk?" He has great recall, so I don't know if I'd say fence required, but highly recommended. He's currently in a fenced yard that's has 6ft fencing. No issues with the yard and destroying anything. He's so smart and everyone tells him how handsome he is. He's an old soul, but despite his size still very much a puppy at heart. He likes to be close and listen to what you have to say to him and be directed on what's next. He's the sweetest dog and will bond to his new family quickly! This fabulous foster is a Doberman Rescue Minnesota foster dog.
