TNEPDS - Smart Ration Card Application Process & Customer Care Number

TNEPDS (Tamilnadu Electronic Public Distribution System) is the newest form of TNPDS. This is a website that can help you apply for a smart ration card in Tamil Nadu. If you are willing to get corrections done on old ration cards or want to add family members, that is also possible with the help of this website. The Tamil Nadu government wants to launch a brand new TNPDS helpline for the public. This is why they moved all the information to the official website tnpds.gov.in. Applying for Smart Ration Card Online - TNEPDS

Step 1

  • Firstly, you need to visit the official website of TNEPDS or TNPDS. 

  • Once you are at the home page, please look for the option “Apply New Smart Card”.

  • If you are not a new user then you can still click on the same option as above. After this page will open you will see another option “Old Card Enrollment”. Otherwise, you can continue as a new user.

  • Now, you have to fill in all the required fields of the application in front of you which will look something like the image below-

  • As you can see in the image above the mandatory fields of the application form are the family head’s name, father’s/husband’s name, address, and mobile number. They need to be filled out compulsorily.

  • Some fields are optional like Email address which can be left if you do not wish to give one.

  • This form is followed by filling out family members’ details like gender, relationship, age, etc. These details can be corrected in the ration card later.

Step 2

After filling in all necessary and primary information you must proceed to step 2 which is filling out the following information-

  • District 

  • Taluk 

  • Mobile Number - Mandatory

  • Pin Code

Then you must move to the “Card Option” column and then select a card from the list of TNPDS cards like no-commodity card, rice card, sugar card, etc.

 

Step 3

After you fill out the application form the next step is to attach your proof of residence. First, you select the type of document you are going to attach from the following documents-

  • Aadhar card 

  • Electricity Bill 

  • Telephone bill 

  • Passport 

  • Gas consumer card 

  • Voter identity card etc.

 

Upload a soft copy or scanned document of residential proof with the clean and latest photograph of the applicant. The photograph should not be larger than 2 MB. The last thing you should do is click on the “Submit” button.

  • You can easily track the progress of your ration card application through the option “Smart Card Application Status” on the home page.

  • Also, If you have given a mobile number at the time of application then you can receive your application status on your registered mobile number via SMS.

  • If you have any queries or complaints then you can easily submit them through your registered mobile number via SMS like PDS<space>107 to 9980904040.

  • You can also post feedback through the “Customer Feedback” option on the Home Page.

  • TNEPDS also provides some helpline numbers (Customer care numbers) for your reference. You can easily reach out to these toll-free numbers for any queries or complaints-

  • You can easily change the details of existing family members or add family members to the smart ration card through TNEPDS. 

  • You need to click on the “Beneficiary Login” option and an OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. After entering this OTP you get access to your current ration card information.

  • You can easily edit and save the details and submit them with all the required documents. 

  • You will get the status of “Smart card details edit” on your registered mobile number.
