Served in Armed Forces for 26 years as Lieutenant, Captain, Platoon Commander and Field Company Commander in Engineers Regiment, 1969-76; Major, Garrison Engineer, 1977-83, Major, Staff Grade-II, HQ Northern Command Udhampur; Lt. Col., Staff Officer, Grade-I at Army HQ, New Delhi; Colonel, Commander of Border Road Task Force, Arunachal Pradesh, 1988-91; Colonel, Additional Chief Engineer, Bangalore , 1991-92; Col. Addl. Chief Engineer, Jodhpur, 1992-94. Had outstanding and challenging tenures in Armed Forces (Corps of Engineers); in various States/regions in India. Recipient of three Awards (i) Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM) from President of India, (ii) Commendation of Chief of Army Staff and (iii) Commendation from Chief of Air Staff.
