Rakesh singh
Introduction
Rakesh Singh is an Indian politician and member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Currently, he is an MP representing the Jabalpur constituency of Madhya Pradesh in the lower house of parliament.
Early life and Education
Rakesh Singh was born on 4 June 1962 in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. He did a bachelor of science from the government science college, Jabalpur. In December 1993, he entered into marriage with Mala Singh. The couple has two daughters.
Political Career
Rakesh Singh has been serving as the representative for the Jabalpur constituency of Madhya Pradesh since the general elections of 2004. On 18 April 2018, he was appointed as the BJP State President of Madhya Pradesh, taking over from Nandkumar Singh Chauhan, who had held the position since August 2014. Later, in February 2020, he was replaced by V. D. Sharma. In 2016, Rakesh Singh was assigned the role of Chief Whip for the Bharatiya Janata Party in the Lok Sabha, succeeding Arjun Ram Meghwal, who had joined the Modi government. Additionally, he currently serves as the chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Coal and Steel. Alongside these responsibilities, Singh actively participates as a member of various other parliamentary committees. Furthermore, he holds the position of Co-Incharge for the Maharashtra unit.
